Sean has always been deeply intrigued by the intricacies of college and the best practices for student success.  Through dedicated one-on-one student success counseling, he has guided students to an above-average college experience and the impressive measured benefits that follow. Multiple success stories show that his students gain greater insight, focus and ability to maximize their college experience and to meet career goals, all while reducing student loans and improving post-graduate earnings.

Sean possesses a certification in College Counseling from UCSD and is also a certified College Funding Specialist and a certified Career Coach. He spent two years blogging about topics such as education policy, student development, college financing techniques, early career development, and student success before starting First Degree Advising. Through First Degree, Sean helps college students and their families to make the best academic, career, and financial decisions from move-in to graduation, to first full-time job, doing our best to add hundreds of thousands of dollars in value to your higher education along the way.

When not engrossed in educational research findings and projects, Sean enjoys hiking, kayaking, reading, and spending time with his family in San Diego and LA. He also loves designing services and products that help people, which ultimately led him to earn a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship with an accompanying minor in Service Design from University of Oregon.
